Here is the confession scene for Iriyama Anna (入山杏奈) with English subtitles, from the video game AKB1/149 Renai Sousenkyo (AKB1/149恋愛総選挙).
She uses a lot of metaphors here, which makes it sound kinda funny if you take her words literally. Lastly, the phrase, “senpai” (先輩, せんぱい) (which you might already know!), I left in its original form, as I wasn’t 100% certain on how to translate. Social hierarchies in Japan manifest itself in the language. With regards to AKB, you’ll often hear the phrase “kouhai” (後輩, こうはい), which I often translate as “junior” or “junior member”. This is basically in indication that this person is “lower” than the speaker in terms of social hierarchy. Again, in terms of AKB, members of older generation will refer to newer members as “kouhai”. Conversly, the related phrase, “senpai” (先輩, せんぱい), refers to one’s senior.
Anyhow, enjoy!
