AKB48 members and AKB48 producer Akimoto Yasushi have begun usage of “live talk app” called 755 (in Japanese, pronounced “nana-go-go”), starting from September 4th. Unrestrained talk with fans then commenced.
Akimoto answered questions from fans, such as, “From your perspective, what’s Sashihara Rino like?”, to which he answered, “She’s a devil”. With regards to Watanabe Mayu’s solo single, he replied, “I’ll be consulting about that next week”. He also gave insight about his interactions with certain members.
Akimoto, Sashihara, Takahashi Minami, Kashiwagi Yuki, and others have started using the application. Questions and responses include topics such as thoughts about television appearances, about their favorites foods — some of which is very different from networking sites such as Google+, Twitter, blogs, etc.
755 (pronounced, “nana-go-go-” in Japanese), is a service that is a joint venture between Cyber Agent (an advertising firm that is part of Japanese internet company, Ameba) and former LiveDoor CEO, Horie Takafumi. The app itself is self described as, “Take a peek! Jeer! The Live Talk App”, and allows celebrities to hold “live talks”, which can be viewed and commented on publicly.
On September 5th, Horie tweeted about the app’s growing popularity: “Oh my god! The 755 app downloading rank has gone crazy! We should fear Akimoto Yasushi. This is gonna be an AKB48 mass gathering”. Attached to the tweet was a photo of the download ranking, demonstrating the huge influential power of the AKB48 group.
