Here is Ikoma Rina’s speech, with English subtitles, from the AKB48 2014 6th Senbatsu General Election.

Like many of the recent senbatsu posts, this is old news, meant for archival / historical purposes.

Ikoma Rina is a member of AKB48’s official rival group Nogizaka46. However, as part of the AKB48 Group Daisokaku Matsuri which took place in early 2014, she had been granted a concurrent position position in AKB48’s Team B. She therefore become eligible to participate in AKB48’s senbatsu election for the first time in 2014. Despite it being the first time she has participated in an election, she managed to rank at #14, placing her in the top 16 senbatsu.

一言質問していいですか。私のこと知ってますか？

ありがとうございます。まさか選抜になるなんて1ミリも思っていなくて、意味わからなくて、でも、私がここに今いるというのは、ファンのみなさんがいろんなところで「応援してください」とビラを作ってくださったり、私の知らないところでそうやって私のために頑張ってくださった方がいたからだと思います。私はライバルグループからの兼任だったので、いろんな人に衝撃を与えてしまって、どうなるかなと不安だったんですけど、今やってよかったなと思っています。まだまだ感謝したい人がたくさんいるし、私のことを知らない人も日本にはたくさんいると思うので、これを機に、乃木坂46も知ってもらえるように頑張りたいと思います。本当にありがとうございました。
