Nogizaka Eigo (or “Nogizaka English”) is a new television series intended to teach viewers about the English language, and features AKB48 member Hirata Rina.

Regular members from Nogizaka46 who will appear include: Kawago Hina, Kitano Hinako, Noujo Ami, Wada Maaya.  Lastly, AKB48 member, Hirata Rina makes an appearance, and is the only member who is fluent in English.

The motivation behind the TV show is to prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games, which will take place in Tokyo, and will undoubtedly bring in millions of foreigners to Japan.

In addition, the chosen four Nogizaka 46 members, are popularly known as the most “baka” (i.e. “stupid”) of the group.  Presumably to promote the easiest and simplest to understand learning methods?

The show’s first episode will air on June 28th at 11:3pm on TBS.
