Welcome to a slightly updated akbzine.com

There have a been a few minor changes, both with my life and with the site in general.  Let me tell you about them!

The site doesn’t get a ton of traffic, but I figure I owe to my few loyal readers / watchers who keep coming back.

First of all, you may have noticed the new layout.  I’m hoping this will make things easier to read, and expose more of the site’s content.

Hoshino Minami
Reika’s Oshimen. 「萌えぇぇぇっす!!」

If you read the “by” lines, you might have noticed a new writer recently: Reika.  She’ll be helping out with the site from now on, focusing on news items and other random articles.  I’m hoping this will increase the breadth of the site’s content.  About Reika herself: I know her personally in real life; she is a native Japanese speaker; her oshimen is Hoshino Minami of Nogizaka 46 (which “could change at any moment.”).  She’s an internet junkie, so a lot of her news will be from the Japanese blogosphere, but I’m trying to get her to find some more quality sources 😀

I could really use a job right about now (T-T)

About my personal life: I’m currently unemployed, and I’ve also been ill.  This has affected my ability to keep steady updates.  Before I was always tied up with work, or one excuse or another.  I’ll still be subtitling gameplay videos, but these updates will obviously not be as frequent as Reika’s updates.  However, I will try to keep a steady pace, if I can, while I look for employment.

Japan has many great things besides idols!

On the topic of site’s content: so yeah, now we’ll have random news and subtitled content.  I’d like to also expand the breadth of the site’s content to Japan in general.  It’s a place and a culture I love, and there are many awesome things about Japan beyond its idols.  So, expect a random post here and there about Japan in general.

That’s all I’ve got for now.  Let me just stress again that akbzine.com is just a hobby.  We do this for the fun of it, for the love of all things idol, and a love for all things Japan.  And hobbies unfortunately take a back seat when life calls.

To my few select readers and watchers: thanks again for stopping by!
