In an article entitled, “Sayanee’s miraculous comeback”, Japanese newspaper Asahi Shinbun gives its own account of why Yamamoto Sayaka will take 2015’s AKB Election.
The writer of this article, working as a reporter for Asahi Shinbun gives several reasons why Sayanee will take the top spot. Most of these feel like personal opinions, but here they are:
- When you meet Sayanee, she has the same ambiance as Oshima Yuko
- During interviews, you can tell that her communication skills are top notch
- She has a small build, but such a strong aura.
- With respect to dancing, singing, and contributions to the group, she is top class.
- While she placed 5th in the preliminary rankings, her vote count nearly doubled from last year.
Admittedly, this article feels more like an opinion piece. But there are some interesting comments about Sayanee’s challenges for taking the top spot. For instance, because this is Takahashi Minami’s last election, there’s a general expectation that she’ll rank higher than usual. The other expectation is that Sashihara Rino will retake top spot because the election is taking place in Kyushu, where Sasshi is originally from.
