Shibata Aya, AKB Sousenkyo Election

Shibata Aya’s 2015 7th Senbatsu speech (English subtitles)

Here is Shibata Aya’s speech for the 15th position from the 2015 AKB48 41st Single 7th Senbatsu Sousenkyo General Election.

I’m Shibata Aya from SKE48, Team E. To everyone, truly, thank you very much.

I couldn’t sleep this election season. My heart was pounding and I felt distressed, but I’m very happy to felt a bond with everyone.

Lately, a lot of SKE48 members have been graduating.

For me, graduation is the next step toward a dream. I never felt it was a sad or a bad thing. But in handshaking events, a lot of people have been asking, “Is SKE okay?”. It’s true that the people who graduated were wonderful members, and there are many others who are cuter and have more abilities than me. Every time someone asked me that, it was kinda of frustrating. The SKE48 group, which I’m a part, I feel is the best idol group in the world.

More over, I think that SKE48 has a great future.

So, there are many wonderful members that I want you all to find. While I’m in SKE48, the SKE48 to which I’m deeply thankful, I want to try my best to push forward the ever growing junior members of all seven generations.

Still, I have no intention of yielding. From now on, with all my strength, I want to try my best to become a wall for the junior members to overcome.

Last year, I was able to make it into the senbatsu at #15, and this year I’m at #15. Of course it’s hard to rise up, but I also realize that it’s also really difficult to maintain your position.

Last year, because of my lack of experience, caused a lot of inconvenience to the other members. This year, I plan to stop staring so much at the camera whenever I’m on music shows. I didn’t mean any of it intentionally. I plan to stop widening my eyes, and narrow my focus.

I really love SKE48. Thank you very much for today.
