Here is Minegishi Minami’s speech for the 19th position from the 2015 AKB48 41st Single 7th Senbatsu Sousenkyo General Election.

AKB48チームKの峯岸みなみです。まさか、速報60位から19位まで這い上がって来れるとは思っていませんでした。皆さん本当にありがとうございます。
This is Minegishi Minami, from AKB48 Team K. I didn’t think I’d be able to move from the 60th position in the prelims all the way to 19th. Everyone, thank you very much.

私はAKB48に入って10年経ちますが、与えられてきたチャンスは少なかった方ではなく、むしろたくさんのチャンスを頂いてきた方だと思っています。
I’ve been in AKB48 for 10 years. I wasn’t one who was given few chances; thinking back, I think I’ve been someone who’s been given many chances.

私は、その恵まれた環境に甘えチャンスを見逃すことも多く不甲斐ない自分のせいで最近では16人の選抜メンバーに選ばれることも減ってしまいました。
Even in that environment, I let so many chances slip away. Because I was disappointing and weak-minded, my selection into the 16 person senbatsu has decreased.

選抜メンバーに選ばれなくて悲しかった事はファンの皆様の喜ぶ顔が見れなくなってしまったことと、年内で卒業を発表したたかみな、そしていつ卒業してしまうか分からない陽菜、大好きな同期の2人と一緒に活動する時間がすごく減ってしまったことです。
The saddest thing about not being in the senbatsu is not being able to see the fans’ smiling faces. Because of that, I haven’t been able to spend time with Takamina, who’ll be graduating this year, and Haruna, who may or may not be graduating — the two people in my generation, who I care about deeply.

本当は1分1秒でも多く、長く、AKBの先頭を一緒に走っていたかったんですけど、どうしても2人に追いつけない自分が情けなく思っていました。
Honestly, even if it’s 1 minute or 1 second more or longer, I really wanted to be together with them at the top of AKB. But, I couldn’t keep with them. I was pitiful.

今回目標の16位にはあと一歩届くことは出来ませんでしたが、こんな私を今でも応援してくれているメンタルの強い、そして心の広いファンの皆さんの手だけは離さぬようにこれからも頑張っていきたいと思います。
This time, I couldn’t make the one step toward reaching the top 16. Even so, to those who still support someone like me, those with strong minds and open hearts, I’ll try my best to not let go of  you.

素晴らしい同期、そして厳しい時代を一緒に走ってきた素晴らしいメンバーたちのAKBイズムをこれからも若い世代に伝えていけるようなメンバーでいたいと思っています。
To the wonderful members of my generation, and to the other members of the AKB group who came with me through these extremely difficult times, I hope I’ll become a member can lead the younger generation.
