Kawaei Rina’s graduation concert at Saitama Super Arena took place on August 2nd. At the stage, she reads a graduation letter to her fans. Here is a full-text translation.

“For the past five years, to all the fans that supported and encouraged me, truly, thank you very much. Before I joined AKB I didn’t have a dream, and I spent everyday pretty much the same as the last. Then, a friend invited me to take part in the AKB audition. I didn’t really think I’d passed, but then I passed and became a member of AKB’s 11th generation.” (約５年間こんな私を支えてくださったファンの皆さん、応援してくださった方々、本当にありがとうございました。ＡＫＢに入る前の私は何の夢も持たず、ただ毎日、同じような日々を過ごしていました。あるとき友達に誘われてＡＫＢのオーディションを受けました。受かるわけないと思ってたのに、１１期生として合格しました)

“I’m really terrible at singing and dancing. When I appeared in concerts, I couldn’t perform, and really stuck out. At the time, I gave up really easily, saying things like, ‘I don’t want to do this, so I won’t,’ or, ‘I can’t do it, it’s just impossible.’ But even so, there were so many warm fans who said to me, ‘I’m supporting you, so please do your best, okay?'” (ダンスも歌も苦手で、公演に出れば１人踊られず、真ん中でずっと突っ立っていました。当時の私は、やりたくないからやらない、できない、もう無理、とすぐに投げ出していました。でもそんな私にも、『応援してるから頑張ってね』と温かい声をかけてくれるファンの皆さんがいました)

“During that time, I achieved my big dream of becoming a senbatsu member. During handshaking events, when I said that I wanted to be part of the senbatsu, two years ago, you brought me to the 25th position — very close to the senbatsu. Then in last year’s election, I made you all worry so much about me but, I was able to achieve the wonderful rank of #16. The fans who encouraged me had made my dreams come true.” (そのうち私には、選抜メンバーに入るという大きな夢ができました。握手会で選抜メンバーに入りたいと言ったら、一昨年の総選挙で２５位という選抜に限りなく近い場所に連れて行ってくれました。そして去年の総選挙では、皆さんにたくさんのご心配をかけましたが、１６位という素敵な順位をいただいて、応援してくださった皆さんが私の夢をかなえてくださいました).

“And then I started thinking about my next dream. The thing I want to do most is to appear in stage plays. From here on out, I don’t know what will happen, but I felt that if I wanted to do something, that I would just do it. Because there are so many people supporting me, I’m able to do my best. Someday, I hope to show you that I’m thriving in lots of TV and stage plays. For me, that’s how I can pay you back for your kindness.” (そんな中で自分の次の夢は何だろうと考えたとき、私が今１番やりたいことはお芝居をすることだと思いました。これから先、何が起こるか分からないから、私はやりたいときにやりたいことをやろうと思いました。応援してくださる方がいるから私は頑張れます。いつかテレビや舞台でたくさん活躍する姿を皆さんに見せることが、私なりの恩返しだと思っています)
