Miyazawa Sae AKB 1/149 Ending confession gameplay

Here is Miyazawa Sae’s confession, with English subtitles, from the video game AKB 1/149 Renai Sousenkyo Love Election.

Sae’s confessions from previous games have always depicted her as the energetic and sporty type; and this confession is really know different.

In terms of understanding the dialogue, there isn’t anything that’s too tricky here, but here are two things that are noteworthy:

She uses the phrase, “karada ugokasu” (体を動かす), which literally means, “to make one’s body move”.  As its literal meaning suggests, its implied meaning is, “to be active” or exercise.

I have always struggled to figure out a good way to translate, “tsukiau” (付き合う),   The literally meaning is to accompany or go along with.  In the context of confession, it means to “officially” enter into a romantic relationship with someone.  In this instance, I chose the translation, “We’re a couple” which is not exactly 100%, but more or less captures the nuance.

Anyhow, here’s the dialogue and inline-translation of the scene:

Main scene

わ、ほら、見て。水がきらきらしてきれい!
Wow, take a look. The water is sparkling; it’s so pretty.

わー、やっぱ、ボートにして正解だったね!
It was a good choice to get on a boat, wasn’t it?

よし、もうちょっと漕ぐぞ!
Okay, I’m going to row a little more!

わー、やっぱ体を動かすっていいね。天気いい時。
Getting some body movement is the best when the weather is good.

ここなら大丈夫かな?
I wonder if right here is okay?

一度しか言わないからさ、ちゃんと聞いててよ。
I’m only going to say this once, so listen up!

好きーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー!
I LOOOOOVE YOUUUUUUUU!!

あれ?聞こえちゃったみたい。
Huh? I guess you heard that.

あ、ってことは、ちゃんと返事も聞かしてよ?
Oh, so anyway, you have to tell me what you feel, okay?

Acceptance

えっ、ほんとに叫んでくれなくてもよかったのに。
Huh? You really didn’t have to yell out like that.

でも、ありがとう。
But, thanks.

ってか、みんな見てるよ。
By the way, everyone is looking!

私たち、今日から付き合いまーす!!!
STARTING TODAY, WE’RE A COUPLE!!!

Rejection

そっか。
I see.

わーーーーー!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

あ、すっきりした。
Okay, I feel better.

今までどうもありがとう。じゃ、行こっか。
Thanks for everything until now. Shall we go?
