AKB48 handshake 握手会

2chan says: what do members think of fans who use only 1 handshake ticket?

A practice at 48-group handshake events is to combine several tickets at once to get more time with your member of choice. It has become so common, that one 2ch user asks: do members react differently to fans who only use a single handshake ticket? The question implies a lot of things about the handshake ticketing system, and the wota who buy into it (multiple times!).

Hi there. Welcome to “2chan says.” I will be attempting to translate selected threads from Japanese message board 2chan (aka, 2ch or 2channel), purely for interest and entertainment purposes (and for translation practice). The opinions expressed here belong to the anonymous Japanese internet at large, and do not necessarily reflect the view of akbzine; plus, this page could be riddled with translation errors anyway. I feel like that would leave a different impression that fans who combine tickets, or keep lining up again.

You should try it.

I do not think they remember you either way.

Honestly, I do not think you would leave an impression unless you had something very, very particular about your appearance.

What do you think is going to happen in 7 seconds?! lol

Do you really want to leave an impression?  Personally, I do not care much about that.

To give you a serious response, it is kind of the same feeling when you see something you want pass you by in that “conveyor belt” sushi.

Obviously, you should just try it. You might meet a member who really values that type of fan.

“If I do not treat this fan well, I won’t sell!”

I visited Sayanee with only one ticket, and it surprised me that she remembered me.

I can only say that it really depends on the girl.  There are girls who will not remember no matter how many tickets you use, and others who will remember you with just one ticket.

But if I find a girl who remembers me with just one ticket, then I really want to use more tickets on her!

Really, one ticket is supposed to be normal, whereas using tons of tickets just puts you into a stupor.

They can’t remember you in just a few seconds. It is just like you are passing by.

They do say that humans remember everything they see.

Is it really important they remember you to begin with?

They probably just think you are a “light fan”.  Well, they probably wouldn’t remember you, would they? Just one minute after, and there goes that memory.

It is not necessary that she remembers me.

That is because I am just so happy to be able to meet her.

Even if she forgets about me, I will never forget her for the rest of my life.

A while ago, I attended an HKT event, and then I went to the handshake event afterwards.  She said to me, “Ah! you were at that event before, right?” I was so surprised.

My appearance is pretty normal, and I was impressed she remember me. She became one of my oshimen!

Before, I would ask members if they remember me.  Usually they would just say, “Really? Thank you very much”.  Doing that, it does not require any real effort.

When you arrive, they say, “Thank you.” And when you leave, they say, “Please come again, okay?” This happens in 3 seconds, so that would be really easy work for them!

At first, I also use just one ticket.  If I start liking them, then I use many more.

Generally, it is just really huge mass of people, so you should not worry about that.

Just when I think that they have remembered me, they graduate.

So let me get this straight: You can meet your oshimen at a HS event more than once? If that so, then it’s like having a phone card with 7 seconds time to spare and then buy another of the same phone card with 7 seconds to talk to her again, correct me if I’m wrong with this weird example. What’s the point of that when you can buy a ticket to see her for, let’s say, 14 seconds at the least?
I’d be so surprised if my oshimen remembers me after just using one ticket before and doing the same thing for the next HS event. But I doubt it since she has a LOT of fans.

    • wilcoout

“You can meet your oshimen at a HS event more than once?” Yes there are different openings/blocks at the HS event. It’s like an attendant at a booth that has to be in there the whole day with breaks in-between. Well if you’re popular anyways, if not you become a part-timer.

“What’s the point of that when you can buy a ticket to see her for, let’s say, 14 seconds at the least?” Are you referring to combining tickets to get 14 seconds or that there are different categories of tickets? Because the second option doesn’t exist, at least to my knowledge. I’ve read that really loyal fans can get private fan meetings in KPop, but I don’t know if that applies to JPop as well.

      • JustSomeGuy

Ah, so you can combine tickets to see your oshimen multiple times? But what I did meant is to have a ticket to see your oshi longer than 7 seconds. These private fan meetings in KPop obviously has security involved to insure safety for the pop singers, right?

        • fransfebri

I believe you can combine tickets. Sasshi once told about about a fan that spent around an hour? basically That is basically 300-400 CDs! You can either use it all at the same time or split it to come multiple times. They will probably not assign a specific security guy, but there always be a chaperon for each booth.

          • JustSomeGuy

That fan is really dedicated. Even I won’t go that far.

        • wilcoout

I’m not sure about how tight the security is but these fans are typically the webmasters/admins of the groups fan-cafes or those who really shower the pop stars with expensive gifts. In fact I’ve read that they actually know who their oshimen dates and what not because they follow them everywhere. Pretty crazy stuff. Stalkers basically lol.

          • JustSomeGuy

            That is pretty crazy.

Ah, the wonderful, complex world of AKB handshaking! A lot of the comments are exactly how I would feel about meeting my oshi or any member, and mostly, I’m with the thinking that I’m just happy to shake hands with the girls. I don’t care so much if they remember me and I don’t expect them too either. It’s really just the fact I am in front of somebody who makes me smile… even for 7 seconds, that’s something I will never forget.

  • Payuyu Fortyeight

Ah same here, i really wouldn’t mind if my oshi doesn’t remember me. Seeing her happy & healthy is even enough for me what more if i met her lol that will probly be the best memory in my life even if i grow old 😀

Now i remember that girl from NMB i guess? i cant remember but i read it here on akbzine, the fan spent lots of tickets on her lane i wonder how members treat people who spend 400+ tickets and that’s like 40 mins+! wish there’s a 2h arcticle about that lol
