今回総選挙に参加してくださった皆さん、そしてAKB48グループを応援してくださっている皆さん、本当にありがとうございます。AKB48総監督をやらせていただいています、横山由依です。
To all of those who participated in this year’s election, and to those who support the AKB48 group, thank you very much. I’m AKB48’s General Manager, Yokohama Yui.

去年は10位をいただきました。今年はランクを一つ落としての11位なんですけれども、今年は総監督として初めて挑む総選挙でした。本当に、実はすごく不安で…。前総監督のたかみなさんから、総監督を言い渡された時に、たかみなさんみたいなカリスマ性もないし、1期生でもないし、自分なんかにできるのかなってこの1年
Last year, I came in at #10. And this year, I fell one spot to #11, and it was my first year taking on this election as general manager. I was really uneasy… When the former general manager, Takamina, said she was passing this title on to me… I don’t have the same charisma, and I wasn’t a first generation member, so I wondered what I could do. This year…

でも「総監督として円陣しかしてないだろ」って声が聞こえてきたりとか…。自分なりにたくさん考えてやってきたことも、全部間違ってたのかなって思う声が聞こえてくる時もあったんですけど、でもそんな時、いつもメンバーが、そしてファンの皆さんが支えてくれました。私、今年は震えなかったんですけど、それはちょっと皆さんの期待はずれだったのかもしれないんですけど、総監督として、順位が上だろうが下だろうが自分と向き合うことができるこの総選挙をAKB48グループ、大切にしたいなと思ったので。

Even in those times, members and the fans always supported me. This year, I’m not shaking, and I might have betrayed your expectations. As general manager, I wanted to make this a group where you can face yourself regardless of whether or not your rank rose or fell.
