Yamamoto Sayaka 2016 8th Senbatsu speech (English subtitles)

Here is Yamamoto Sayaka’s speech for the 4th position from the 2016 AKB48 45th Single 8th Senbatsu Sousenkyo General Election.

Last year, and the year before, I was #6, so I was a little nervous that I’d be #6 again. I’ve finally gotten away from that curse, and able to get to #4. I made the announcement that I wanted to be #1, but I’m very happy. Thank you very much.

This year, I really debated whether I wanted to appear or not. It’s because I felt like it would be a burden to everyone who supports me. While I was worried about it, many people gave me such warm messages, and pushed me from behind, so I decided to register this year.

The election, which is of course composed of the ranking, but there is also the number of votes. I think that voting is an expression of love, and that’s how I felt this time around. Love is not something you can see with your eyes, but you taught me, through this election, that there is a love that you can see very clearly.

If I were to express my feelings now, to me, it’s AMORE!! Up until now, I definitely thought someone would say “amore”, but no one did, so I decided to say it. Thank you very much.

This year, there continues to be NMB48 graduations. Milky, who has always been at my side for such a long time, also announced her graduation in April. To everyone who supported me, I’m sure that it made you worry. At handshake events, there were a lot of people who said who said to me, “It’s pretty bad that Milky is graduating isn’t it?”, or “Don’t carry NMB on your own, don’t think too much”. I was very thankful. But it’s not like that. I don’t believe that I’m carrying the NMB group on my own.

All around me, there are many close-by, reliable members. While being supported by those members, and as captain, hand-in-hand, I want to make things happen in NMB.

Therefore, I’d be very happy if you’ll take notice of the many other charming members in NMB. The moment that this election is over, with your devotion and your hard work, it’ll be my turn to do my best. I hope I’ll make you all smile. I hope that I’ll make you all happy. Whatever happens, I won’t give up, and like a true person of Kansai, I’ll desperately try my hardest. I hope that you’ll continue your support.
