Ogasawara Mayu announced her graduation during a theater performance on October 14th, 2016. Here is an English translation of her graduation announcement.

Everyone, I have an announcement.
小笠原茉由: 私から皆さんにご報告があります。

I, Ogasawara Mayu, will graduate from AKB48.
私、小笠原茉由はAKB48を卒業します。

I became 22 years old this year. Since my debut, as of October 9th, this is my sixth year. I’ve thought for a long while that I would make my announcement coming into my sixth year anniversary, so that’s how I decided on this timing.
今年で22歳となって、デビューとしては10月9日で6年目を迎えることができました。で、6周年を迎えたこのタイミングで卒業発表させていただこうっていうのはずっと前から思っていまして、このタイミングとなりました。

I will finish all my AKB-related activities before the year ends. I’ll let you know when things become clearer. So I hope you’ll continue your support.
AKBとしての活動としては年内をもって終了とさせていただくんですけども、詳しいことはまた改めてご報告させていただきます。なのでよろしくお願いします。

Starting next year and onward, I plan to continue my activities in show business. Since I plan to continue, I hope that you’ll continue to support me, as always.
来年からも、でも芸能活動は続けたいなと思っています。続けるので、これからも変わらず応援していただけたらなと思います。
